Guest Blog Post by Ellen Morris-Knower: Neighborhood Project Update - Belle Sherman Cottages Coming Soon

So there are lots of big trucks up on Mitchell Street, leveling the future site of the Belle Sherman Cottages, but when will the houses be going up?

Developer Toby Millman stopped in at an Audrey Edelman RealtyUSA meeting recently to announce that pre-sales of the 19 single-family, "Belle Sherman Cottages" will begin in mid-December. Millman, of Agora Homes & Development out of Skaneateles, is finalizing plans with the different contractors involved, and should be able to announce specific prices for the home packages within the next few days.

There are plans for 10 attached townhouses to be built in the second phase of the project, later next year or Spring 2013.

Highlights of this Smart-growth neighborhood:

• 19 energy-efficient, modular homes, 1750 -1900 sqft;
• Two models of 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath single family homes: Farmhouse with bedrooms up, and Bungalow with MB on 1st floor, both with front porch, detached garage
• Standard home package includes hardwood floors on the first level, Andersen windows, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and A/C
• Townhouses will be 1590 sqft, 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, attached garage on first level
• Lots will average 40' x 100' with more of a downtown feel
• Neighborhood is adjacent to East Hill Recreation trail
• There is a plan for a tot-spot playground
